I spent a fun day with the procurement team of a social lettings agency for a large London authority, who I shall not name; reason being that what I trained them in gives them an unfair advantage over the competition.
“NLP Skills for Housing Procurement Staff”.
If you’ve ever seen Derren Brown reading minds or persuading people to hand over their wallets then you’ll have a glimpse into what the course covers.
Behind all the entertaining flim flam, in reality using NLP skills to procure properties is really about spending 80% of your time listening and questioning and only 20% talking.
What surprised me was that they have employed a couple of people from the high street letting agency side of things in order to better understand the landlords they want to procure from but they didn’t know any NLP skills either.
If your services are well thought out and you know how to get rapport with people and ask the right questions then your services should sell themselves.
Proof of the pudding will be when I return in a few months time to shadow the team and see how they are utilising the material we covered and how many more properties they are actually bringing into the agency.
