What are workshops?

Our workshops are small classes (generally between 10-20 attendees) where the trainer is able to give more focused and detailed training on specific issues.

As the classes are small, there is much more scope for discussion and interaction, both within the group and with the trainer. People generally find them very rewarding.

About this workshop

The vast majority of residential tenancies in England & Wales are controlled by the Housing Act 1988.

A knowledge of this Act, its requirements, and how it works is vital for any residential landlord and letting agent.

This course aims to fill that gap by providing an introduction to the Act and a detailed explanation of the key points.

David will also be discussing the new case of Spencer v. Taylor where the Court of Appeal have given a radical new interpretation of section 21.

WORKSHOP PROGRAM :

  • AM

    Tenancies and rent

Topics covered will include – What types of occupation fall under the Act and what do not, how to deal with room lets and sharing, rent increases

  • PM

    Deposits and eviction issues

Topics covered will include - Tenancy deposits and how they link with the Act, possession through section 8 and possession through section 21
