Homelessness applications have risen dramatically in the past few years along with the challenges to local authority decisions.
Getting the law right at every level has never been more important and it isn’t just investigations officers who need a comprehensive knowledge of the law. Other staff in the chain, from the reception desk to ancillary services also feed into the home homelessness process.

- Eligibility rules and case laws
- Identifying homelessness
- Dealing with priority need cases and vulnerability explained
- Intentional homelessness
- Local connection rules
- Duties to homeless applicants
- Reviews and appeals.
Outcomes:
Course participants will be able to clearly identify the 5 tests used in homelessness case work and will gain some insights into seminal case laws on the subject. It is also a good course to set delegates up for more advanced training on the subject.

People new to homelessness work and those wanting a refresher. It would also be of great use to staff whose day to day work brings them into contact with homelessness on a variety of levels who want to advance their knowledge of people’s rights and the duties of local authorites.
